Alice and Wonderland

Date: 5th Nov 2017 @ 1:51pm

We are reading the wonderful 'Alice in Wonderland' this half term and have started to look at the character of Alice and her odd personality - focusing on the dialogue between herself and some of the other characters. The children put together a list of questions they would ask Alice:

'Why did you follow the rabbit down the rabbit hole?'

'How did you know it wasn't poison in the bottle and why did you drink it?'

'Why were you crying?'

They then took on the hot seat, each answering the questions as if they were Alice.

We also focsued on how dialogue is enhanced by the author, by adding adverbial clauses to show how the characters act and how they speak. The children worked in pairs to read aloud an extract from the story, focsuing on HOW they were reading to show character.
