Autumn 1 - Week 7

Date: 19th Oct 2018 @ 7:19pm

In Music this week, the children have enjoyed using their voices and bodies in different ways to make sounds to match a variety of pictures. They have discussed and explored how they can alter the pitch of their voice to create a new sound. After creating appropriate sounds for a range of pictures from a play park, the children then collaboratively created a sound collage. The activities leading up to the creation of the sound collage also provided the children with some opportunities to develop their ability to follow a steady beat.

Every week, the children complete a mental arithmetic test. Before the children complete a mental arithmetic test. Before the children complete their test, they have the chance to work together to practice the skills they will need to use. The children work in their Kagan teams to solve a range of mathematical problems; including both addition and subtraction questions. This collaborative activity helps the children to develop their understanding of the varying methods that can be used to solve the mathematical problems, before completing them independently on their test.

Every half term, the children will be taking part in a reading challenge. They must read their book at home and bring in their signed reading record in order to receive a point. The children who receive a certain number of points will take part in a fun activity at the end of each half term. This week the children had a lovely movie afternoon with hot chocolate and sweets. Hopefully, more children will complete the reading challenge next half term in order for them to take part in the treat too! Well done Edie, Knalah, Milan, Vanessa, Chidubem, Indi and Amelie!

This week, Betsy Bear decided to spend half term with Evaugni! Betsy was very impressed with Evaughni's attitude toward learning and the excellent work she has produced all half term.

Have a lovely half term Class 1!
