Coding superstars!

Date: 2nd Oct 2018 @ 5:41pm

At Abbott, we follow the Purple Mash scheme for our Computing lessons. This half term we have been using it to enhance our coding skills. First, we learnt that coding is basically what makes computer software, apps and websites work. We then learnt that behind every animation or activity we use on computers, there is a set of instructions (algorithms) which tell the computer what to do. We used to tell the computer to play a beat for us then we gave children instructions on what to do. This representation helped us to understand that algorithms need to be clear and concise so the computer knows what to do. We then logged into Purple Mash and created backgrounds and characters (we even made our characters make a sound using the 'when clicked' button). We will continue to develop this over the next few weeks.
