Today we celebrated international literacy day. We discussed what literacy was and identified why being literate was so important. The pupils had some great discussions and gave lots of real-life examples of when we use/need literacy such as, reading food labels, road signs and applying for jobs. We also thought about those in the world who are illiterate and how this can impact their lives. The children were then asked to think about specific careers and identify how literacy would be needed.
To continue this, pupils can access the reading cloud and complete a book review for their favourite book!
