Ordnance Survey Maps

Date: 13th Nov 2019 @ 2:40pm

In Geography we are exploring and investigating 'How fair is Fair Trade?'. Already we have identied the oldest trade route in the world, 'The Silk Road' and discovered that trade with China is hugely important. We have learned that Marco Polo was the first explorer to venture to the China via the silk road, and now know that 'Marco Polo' remains an important part of international trade even today.

We looked at how shipping trade impacts on the human and physical geography of place, and used ordnance survey maps to analyse the local area around Southampton. The children learned how to use 4 and 6 figure grid referencing to identify geographical features on the maps.
