Autumn 1 - Week 4

Date: 28th Sep 2018 @ 4:35pm

In Literacy this week the children have continued to explore the story of the Bog Baby. On Tuesday they designed and labelled their own habitat for our Bog Baby. The children then worked in their teams to collect natural materials from the school ground to make their own bog. On Friday the children wrote some excellent instructions on how to make a bog, using imperative verbs.

This week in Maths the children have been consolidating and deepening their understanding of numbers to 10. They have been showing numbers in different ways: numerals, number words, objects and pictures. On Wednesday, they worked in their pairs to complete an activity in which they had to say, make and write each number.

On Thursday, the whole school celebrated International Language Day. First of all, the children learnt some new ways to say hello in a variety of languages. Some of our favourites were Guten Tag (German), Ciao (Italian) and Konnichiwa (Japanese). I then taught the children how to sign 'I can sing a rainbow' in British Sign Language. They were excellent!

This week Betsy Bear chose to go home with Milan! Betsy thought that Milan worked very hard this week and that her behaviour set an excellent example for the rest of the class.
