What have Class 3 been up to this week?

Date: 21st Sep 2018 @ 3:48pm

As always, we have had a fun, yet busy, week!

In Literacy, we finished reading our story Orion and the Dark. We were really happy that Orion overcame his fear of the dark! We used this story to write a character a description of Orion. The children tried extremely hard and used some great vocabulary.

In Maths, we have continued to show our fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills by using many methods of addition and subtraction. We were using a method called rounding and adjusting, which was tricky but helpful when solving problems that can't be done mentally.

We have started our Science topic of forces and magnets and have been identifying different pushes, pulls and twists. Miss Henderson introduced us to a new Kagan structure called Blind Consensus. We all had our own pictures of pushes, pulls and twists and we had to decide which they thought we were. When we had all finished, we worked as a team to see if we agreed and changed any that we didn't agree on.

In Year 3, the children will receive a pen licence when they have shown neat and legible handwriting. Congratulations to Sarah, Sahar, Vera, Janelle, Lytham, Yusun, Joe and Sahar who all received their pen licence this week. Also, congratulations to Vera for being this week's Star Writer :).
