What is the Geography of where I live like?

Class 1 have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about where they live! They now know that they live in Manchester, which is in England, which makes up part of the United Kingdom. They also know that the United Kingdom is made up of 4 countries and that they each have a capital city- we used this video to help us remember: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvDIZoQLgIE 

The children have spent some time learning about human and physical geography and can clearly distinguish between the two. They were ecstatic when they found out about Google Earth! They were able to navigate their way around the local area identifying many human features such as houses, buildings, shops, roads, railways and railways. We did find it trickier to find examples of physical geographical features but did find a river, a lake, grass, and trees (this prompted a good discussion about whether they are human or physical as humans can plant trees!).
