Exciting potatoes and Year of the Rooster

Date: 29th Jan 2017 @ 10:16am

This week the children wrote some fantastic information texts for our Class 2 Animal Fact File. In history, we learnt about British food in the Tudor period and how potatoes and tomatoes were new and exciting foods to this country only eaten by the rich. After looking at their diets, we had a discussion about who ate more healthily - the poor or the wealthy.

I was so proud when James, our rugby coach from Salford Red Devils, was so impressed with the class' effort, skills and teamwork that he taught us a game he normally only plays with children in Years 5 and 6.

We had a special Chinese ribbon dance workshop and on Friday we learnt about how Chinese New Year is celebrated and made some fanastic rooster artwork using straws to give the birds a feathered effect.

We also said goodbye to Pranav this week to and wish him all the best at his new school in London.
