World Book Day

In Year 5 we had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. The children came to school dressed in different costumes: from Gangsta Granny to Mrs Twit. They all looked great. We began the day by discussing our favourite books and authors. An author that the pupils in Year 5 have been enjoying recently is Dav Pilkey. He is a cartoonist author who writes Captain Underpants, Dog Man and Cat Kid. During reading for pleasure time, lots of the pupils are enjoying his books.

For World Book Day, the pupils had the chance to create their own comic. They had to think about the characters, story line and other features of comics. We had some fantastic ideas with lots of interesting characters. Take a look at some of them below.

In the afternoon, Year 5 went in to Year 2 and paired up with each other to share a story together. The pupils read stories to each other and spoke about what they enjoyed about reading.
