Ancient Egyptians Trip

Lesson: History

Class: Class 3 Year: 2017 - 2018

To start our Ancient Egyptians topic off, we took a trip to John Rylands Library, where we took part in an Ancient Egyptians Hieroglyphics workshop. We looked around at different examples of hieroglyphics on scrolls and tried to figure out what they meant. Then we looked at some of the different symbols for letters and sounds (we found out that there were 700!). Then we used them to write our own names on papyrus paper. The children were excellent and asked some very sensible questions and Bernie was very impressed.
