Artists in the making!
Date: 9th Oct 2024 @ 2:14pm
In our art lessons, we have been learning about a Danish artist called Molly Haslund, who uses her body and a large compass to make spirals.
The children used this as inspiration to create their own pieces of artwork. First, we experimented with making different spirals when it was quiet and loud, as well as making them quickly and slowly. Finally, the children chose whether to use chalk or oil pastels and created their own spiral artwork. Some children even incorproated blending and smudging. I apologise for the mess on their uniforms, but they had a fabulous time :D.
Additionally, the children have learnt about observational drawing. I stopped a video and challenged the children to 'draw what they see' for 1 minute, then 2 minutes and then 3 minutes. They realised that when they slow down and take their time they can really focus on the finer details in their drawings. They used these skills to make observational drawings of shells that Mrs Wiltshire kindly let us use.
