Year 6 really enjoyed using manipulatives to gain a deep understanding of square numbers. Through working with the cubes, they were able to understand why we don't simply count up in multiples but instead physically multiply the base x width x height. They could then fully count all of the cubes to check their answers. Well done Year 6!
